Hey welcome to my site. I put links here to whatever is captivating my attention at the time. At the moment it is Particle Physics and Astronomy. Why? First of all because it's fun to think about. I enjoy thinking about exactly what constitutes our reality. There are no other fields more important to this understanding. They really are the holy grail of science. I am under no illusion that research in these areas will ever give any of the answers many of us seek as to "why" we are here, because for one thing I don't think there is an answer. We are simply here. To ask the universe why, would be like asking a blind man to describe the color orange. It's simply the way it works. The search for a why is a search that will never bear fruit simply because it is the wrong question. We can only ask how. Some may find this view depressing, but I would suggest that they haven't looked around. We are creatures that are intimately connected with everything around us. We literally are the universe. Made from molecules forged in exploding stars. If we let ourselves, we can't help but find all the natural phenomena around us extraordinarily beautiful, whether it be views of the earth or of the night sky, or the beauty of simply understanding the natural laws which make it all possible. In my opinion we need to stop creating false answers to the meaningless question of why, and simply accept the beauty that is around us. Understanding our insignificance, will only make us all more compassionate with one another, because we will understand we are all in the same ship, on a very short journey indeed. Creating false gods to help us cope, and to make us feel like we already know all the answers we seek, only makes us less compassionate to those that don't share our fantasy, and robs us of ever connecting to the deep truth, beauty, and tragedy that is our existence.
